NYC Cray !!! Breakfast at The Breslin in the Ace Hotel

I try to avoid most restaurants in hotels, but when it comes to the Ace Hotel, it’s a different story. Located in the dark and mysterious Ace Hotel New York is The Breslin. Conceptualized by culinary masterminds Ken Friedman and April Bloomfield, The Breslin gives no f*cks when it comes to high fat and calorifically-dense meals for the sake of absolutely unreal food. If the words whole roasted suckling pig, fried chicken feast, duck fat potatoes and fried peanut butter and banana sandwich arouse you, then this is the place you need to be. If not, don’t worry, there are lighter options too.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to experience any of that, but we did try their breakfast! Served from 7:00 am to 11:45 am, Ace Hotel’s breakfast is definitely worth getting out of bed for. The breakfast menu consists of freshly baked pastries, granola or Greek yogurt, pancakes, full english breakfast, a huge selection of eggs, and sides. The Breslin also has a weekend brunch menu which slightly overlaps with the breakfast menu, but is served from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm.

Baked eggs with stuffed squash blossoms & prosciutto ($17 USD). I have a soft spot for eggs, so the baked eggs with sweet tender squash blossoms and slices of prosciutto was the winner for me.

Full English Breakfast ($23 USD). The Breslin’s classic full English breakfast is served with a perfect pair of fried sunny-side-up eggs, a fat juicy pork sausage, flavor packed blood sausage, crispy bacon, baked tomatoes and sautéed mushrooms.

Oven-baked 3 cheese sandwich with house smoked ham ($16 USD). The 3 cheese sandwich was simple but hit the spot. I loved that the bread was coated with crispy burnt cheese with thin slices of smoky ham in the center.

Blueberry & cornmeal pancakes with strawberry butter ($17 USD). The cornmeal pancakes were tasty, but not amazing. They’re actually slightly on the savory side, which I personally didn’t mind.
